1. What do you understand by public interest?

The "public interest" in the context of the Ontario College of Trades (OCOT) may be defined as the fair, reasonable and equitable protection of the "public"


2. Who should the College serve? Who is “the public” in the public interest and what groups make up the public?

For the construction sector the "public" may be defined as, but not limited to, the following: the worker, the co-worker(s), the project site, the employer, the consumer, the trade group, the construction sector, the public and the environment, that is, all individuals and/or entities involved in the efficient and effective delivery of construction


3. How should the College make decisions in the public interest where different segments of the public may have opposing interests?
