Dean Review Consultation Questions

Written submission to Dean review

Submission number: DR-90A

Name of organisation making submission: DR-90A - Canadian Farm Builders Association

Dear Mr. Dean,

As President of the Canadian Farm Builders Association, I would like to provide you with a brief introduction of who we are, and present the response from our Association with regards to the review of Supporting Skilled Trades in Ontario. Please find attached a ‘Preamble’ letter to outline our position, and the completed Questions and Answers as requested.

The Canadian Farm Builders Association was formed by a group of farm building contractors who first met on Feb. 5, 1980 and saw a need for uniformity in the farm building industry and quality standards to work from. With ongoing educational opportunities, advisories, and policy manuals, members work with the latest information available, with much of this coming from the Canadian Farm Builders Association and OMAFRA. The Association consists of numerous stakeholders within the agricultural community. These members include farm builders, engineers, OMAFRA employees, building inspectors, and suppliers of farm building related products.

The committee who prepared the response on behalf of the Canadian Farm Builders Association was comprised of 5 of the Board of Directors, namely:

Dan Reymer, Middlesex Concrete Forming Ltd.
Gary van Bolderen, Dutch Masters Construction Services
Mark Cook, Alstructural Handling Inc.
Rodger Curran, Agri-Urban Buildings Inc.
Duane Westrik, Post Farm Structures

We invite future consultation as the review proceeds. You are welcome to contact me regarding any questions that arise from our submission, or if we may be of assistance in any way. We thank you for your consideration, and would appreciate confirmation that you have received this important information. I may be reached at the above address, or directly at T# 519-247-3752.

Best regards,
