Biography: Tony Dean

Tony Dean teaches at the School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Toronto.  He advises governments on public service reform and building capacity for policy-making and delivery.

In 2010, Dean led an expert panel review of Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act, and in 2013 completed a governance review of OMERS, one of Canada’s largest pension plans.  

From 2002 to 2008, Dean was Secretary of the Cabinet and Head of the Ontario Public Service.

Reviewer's Message

On April 8, 2013, the Ontario College of Trades opened its doors to its members as an independent, industry-driven self-regulatory college.

The creation of the College was an important development for the trades, tradespeople and the people who hire them. A key objective was to give people who work in the skilled trades decision-making power for the issues that matter to them.
